Focus?

Instead of making New Years resolutions, I like to review my year and refocus on what matters to me. And given 2022 was a year of big changes, I'm really feeling the the need to refocus

But refocus on what?

I've been using Midjourney for about 6 months now. The creativity spark I get from both creating images and looking at other peoples' images is priceless.

I've always been an artist/creator: drawing, photography, clay, photoshop, software, 3D printing and more. But Midjourney and other AI art has opened up new possibilities for me.

Frankly I don't know what those possibilities are. I just know something positive is happening.

A favorite quote of mine is from the book 'The Lion Tracker's Guide to Life' by Boyd Varty.

'I don't know where we are going but I know exactly how to get there…'

Pretty much describes what I am feeling. I know where I want to focus my creative energy but I'm not sure where it is heading.

When I think about the art I've done, the common thread is patterns and textures. I love patterns and textures! Whether it's in a closeup photo of leaves, creating crystalline pottery glazes or creating AI images.

With Midjourney I've been experimenting with nautilus shells, fractals, Voronoi patterns, and Fibonacci. Combining to see what happens. Exploring the possibilities of different prompts. And thinking about how I use these images with my other art.

While the posts in this Blog may seem unrelated, they are actually connected by my interest in patterns and textures.

I started this blog to share what I make. I hope you will stick around for the journey and share your ideas too.
